At the Space Day 2011 event, almost 400 students from Bradenton, Florida, had an opportunity to see the world in a whole new way. From the Space Shuttle.
On Friday, April 9, about 900 local students spent the day learning how math and science add up to fun. The students participated in Space Day 2010, an educational event sponsored by Lockheed Martin Corporation and taking place at Florine J. Abel Elementary School, 7100 Madonna Place, in Sarasota.
A donation to Kinnan Elementary School by Lockheed Martin allowed the entire student body to experience science first-hand outside of the classroom by participating in the Mote Aquarium’s Mote Marine Laboratory program.
Students from two schools in Manatee County, Fla., celebrated National Engineers Week by learning first-hand how the subjects they were studying in school are applied in real-life.
On April 18, 2008 more than 1,000 local children blasted off into space at an educational event sponsored by Lockheed Martin Corporation and held at Florine J. Abel Elementary School in Manatee County. Space Day is designed to excite children about math, science and engineering through hands-on activities and interaction with aerospace professionals.
On May 15, 2007, Lockheed Martin brought Space Day 2007 to Kinnan Elementary School in Sarasota, FL. Nearly 1,000 students from Kinnan and Abel Elementary Schools participated in Sarasota’s first experience of the inspirational national program.
